PHILA SOUTH PARK MASTER PLAN APPROVED
NEW PHILADELPHIA – City officials now have an outline of enhancements for the South Side Park to address. Council has approved a $6.3 million master plan for the park. Mayor Joel Day says the park board in the coming months will look into grants and local foundations to fund phase one, which will be construction of an $800,000 access road. Later phases would include baseball and softball fields, a dog park, a concession stand, and more. City officials hope to complete the work in five to 10 years.


MAY ELECTION CERTIFIED
NEW PHILADELPHIA – This month’s Primary Election is now in the books. The Tuscarawas County Board of Elections certified the results from the May 2nd vote Monday, with some additional provisional and absentee ballots added to the election night totals. Board Director Allan Sayre says as expected, the outcomes were still the same. Sayre says they are already looking ahead to November. The filing deadline for candidates in the non-partisan school board and township trustee races is August 9th.


BANK ROBBER, CUSTOMER EXCHANGE GUNFIRE
CINCINNATI (AP) – Police say a bank robber and a bank customer exchanged gunfire during a robbery. No arrests were made, and police in Colerain Township in suburban Cincinnati were searching for the suspected robber and an accomplice after the Monday morning robbery.


MAN CRAWLS TO SAFETY 4 DAYS AFTER FALLING FROM CLIFF
ELYRIA (AP) – Firefighters in Ohio say a man who fell from a cliff and spent four days in a ravine was rescued after he crawled 300 yards to a country club, despite having broken both his legs and arms. The man was found Monday in Elyria. He said he had been hiking Thursday when he fell over a cliff into a river.


BOMBER DEAD, MAN ARRESTED IN CONCERT ATTACK
MANCHESTER, England (AP) – Manchester police say the man who set off an improvised explosive device at an Ariana Grande concert in northern England died in the attack Monday night. Police said 22 people died in the attack. It was not clear if that included the suicide bomber. Dozens more were injured. Police also arrested a 23-year-old man in south Manchester today in connection with the bombing. 


TRUMP ADMINISTRATION SENDING CONGRESS $4.1 TRILLION BUDGET
WASHINGTON (AP) – President Donald Trump is sending Congress a $4.1 trillion spending plan that relies on faster economic growth and steep cuts in a range of support programs for low-income individuals to balance the government's books over the next decade. The proposed budget, for the fiscal year that begins October 1st, was being delivered to Congress today.
