TRIAL DATE SET FOR TWO OF THE NEWCOMERSTOWN MURDER SUSPECTS
NEW PHILADELPHIA - A trial date has been set for two of the three Jefferson County men charged in the September murder of 19-year-old Luke Cabbage of New Philadelphia. Prosecutor Ryan Styer says Judge Edward O’Farrell has set the trials for both 22-year-old Kyle Boyd and 20-year-old Jordan Robinson to begin March 13th. Boyd is facing two counts of both involuntary manslaughter and conspiracy. Robinson faces a 10-count indictment, with the most serious being aggravated murder. The alleged gunman, 19-year-old Arnoldo Orduno, remains in the Tuscarawas County Jail. His trial must begin by April 10th

CITY PREPARING FOR NEW DOVER HIGH SCHOOL
DOVER - City officials are getting ready to accommodate construction of the new high school. Service Director Dave Douglas says they are working with the design team to run a new 8-inch waterline to the school for fire suppression. It will go under the lane currently known as Hickory Alley, which will be widened into a standard public street and used as a bus lane.  Douglas is unsure of the price of the work, but he anticipates the school district will help with the costs.

LAST CHANCE AT FARMERS’ MARKET
DOVER - People who prefer buying locally grown produce are getting another shot to do that before winter hits. The Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market has its annual holiday market today from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Breitenbach Wine Cellars. Chair Mark McKenzie says along with the usual produce, they will also have a food truck, live music and products from local artists.

COMPETITION OVER MEDICAL MARIJUANA LICENSES
COLUMBUS (AP) - State officials say they've received more than 300 applications to operate 60 dispensaries that will sell medical marijuana in Ohio. The Ohio Board of Pharmacy on Monday said that it had received 370 applications to operate the dispensaries the state expects to have up and running in about a year. A board spokesman says no deadline has been set for determining which businesses will get licenses to operate the dispensaries.

CHINA RAISES DOUBTS ON US POLICY ON NORTH KOREA
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Chinese government has said it hopes countries would do more to bring North Korea and others back to talks instead of making tensions worse. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang stopped short of criticizing the U.S. for declaring Pyongyang a state sponsor of terrorism. But Lu said it would be "helpful to bring all parties back to the negotiation table instead of doing the opposite." One concern is that the U.S. decision could trigger retaliation from North Korea.
